Transmission Scanner for Cars: Xtool D7 and D8 for 6T45 Gen 2 Transmissions

Xtool D7 and D8 scan tools, available on Amazon, can perform Transmission Service Fast Learn for 6T45 Gen 2 transmissions. This confirmation comes directly from Xtool, stating that both the D7 and D8 models support this function for vehicles like a 2014 GMC Terrain with a 2.4L engine and a 6T45 transmission.

Xtool D7 Model Variations: Key Differences

The Xtool D7 series offers several models: the D7, D7S, and D7W. The D7S is an upgrade to the base D7, boasting CAN FD and DoIP protocol compatibility, a larger 2+64G storage capacity, an 8MP camera, a built-in kickstand, compatibility with the XV100 add-on, a newer user interface, a 5000mAh battery, and a dedicated charging cable. The D7W shares these features with the D7S but offers wireless connectivity. The D7 only supports the CAN FD protocol and has 2+32G storage, a 4000mAh battery and charges via USB.

Xtool D8: Enhanced Features for Transmission Service

The Xtool D8 also performs Transmission Service Fast Learn. It surpasses the D7 series with superior hardware, including a larger screen and improved battery life. Notably, the D8 directly supports CAN FD protocol vehicles, offers ECU Configuration, ADAS, and PMI functionalities, and is compatible with add-ons like digital inspection cameras and key programmers such as the KC-100 and KC-501. Furthermore, the D8 provides 38 special functions compared to the D7’s 36.

Performing Transmission Fast Learn

While these scanners enable the Transmission Service Fast Learn procedure, it’s unclear whether the transmission itself would perform a learning procedure without the use of a scanner during regular driving. A transmission scanner ensures accurate execution and verification of the learning process.
