For installation, a custom bracket to house the sensor and button is beneficial. Finally, an ignition adapter simplifies the wiring process by providing clear connection points for the car’s ignition system.

Setting Up Your Fingerprint Ignition: Configuration is Key

Before diving into the car itself, configuring the fingerprint control board is crucial. This involves two main steps: enrolling your fingerprints and adjusting the relay mode. Firstly, fingerprint enrollment enhances security. Out of the box, these systems often allow any fingerprint to start the car, which defeats the purpose. To rectify this, access the ‘SET’ button on the control board. By holding it briefly until the LED flashes rapidly, you enter enrollment mode. During this phase, scan each finger you want to authorize for starting the car. Enrolling multiple fingers is advisable to account for injuries or changes to a single fingerprint. Once enrollment is complete (indicated by the LED ceasing to flash), the system will only respond to registered fingerprints.

Secondly, the mode selection switch needs adjustment. Setting it to mode 2 is vital for car ignition. This mode ensures that a successful fingerprint scan momentarily toggles a relay, mimicking the action of turning a key to start the car and then releasing it. This is different from a simple on/off switch, as the starter motor needs to be engaged and then disengaged after the engine starts. Furthermore, fine-tuning the relay toggle time is important. An adjustment screw on the control board allows you to reduce the default relay activation time, which is often set too long for ignition purposes. Experiment to find a duration that reliably starts your car without unnecessary relay engagement – around 1.5 seconds is usually sufficient.

Wiring and Integration: Connecting to Your Car’s Ignition

For added security and to prevent accidental ignition, installing a hidden rocker switch as a ‘kill switch’ is highly recommended. This switch should be placed in-line with the ground wire going to the entire assembly, allowing you to completely cut power to the fingerprint ignition system when desired. Finally, the relay on the fingerprint control board manages the purple ‘crank’ wire. Wire the COMMON output of the relay to ground, and the NORMALLY OPEN output to the ignition adapter’s purple wire. The NORMALLY CLOSED output remains unconnected. This configuration ensures that upon a successful fingerprint scan and power button activation, the relay momentarily grounds the purple wire, triggering the engine crank.
