Egolf Joins Illinois State Redbirds Soccer Coaching Staff

Illinois State University’s Redbird soccer program welcomes Erin Egolf as an assistant coach, joining Head Coach Raleigh DeRose and Associate Head Coach Paul Meehan. Egolf brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record to the team.

Egolf’s impressive coaching career most recently saw her leading the University of Springfield (UIS) women’s soccer program. As the winningest coach in UIS history, she achieved a 53-66-19 record and secured three tournament appearances in 2017, 2022, and 2023. Prior to her head coaching role, Egolf served as an assistant coach at UIS from 2013 to 2016 and played for the team from 2010 to 2013. Her connection to Illinois State runs deep, having played as a freshman for the Redbirds in 2009.

“I am thrilled to welcome Erin Egolf to the Redbird Family,” DeRose commented. “Her experience, passion for player development, and competitive spirit will be invaluable assets to our staff.” DeRose expressed excitement about working with Egolf in this new chapter of Redbird Women’s Soccer.

Beyond coaching, Egolf contributed significantly to UIS athletics as Assistant Athletic Director starting in October 2023. Her responsibilities included serving as the 2022 Women’s Golf NCAA Tournament Director, participating in strategic planning, managing housing logistics for the athletic department, and acting as game administrator for numerous UIS athletic events.

Egolf’s coaching prowess extended beyond the field, fostering academic excellence within her teams. She maintained a 100% graduation rate, consistently achieved team GPAs above 3.4, and mentored numerous Academic All-Conference honorees. Under her leadership, the UIS team earned the United Soccer Coaches Association Team Academic Award every year.

“Thanks to Coach DeRose for this opportunity,” Egolf stated. “I’m eager to begin this new chapter with ISU Athletics and the Bloomington-Normal community.”

Egolf’s playing career at UIS was equally remarkable. As a starting center midfielder, she set records for all-time career goals and points. Her accolades include GLVC All-Conference selections, All-Academic honors, and regional recognition. She was also a member of the 2009 MVC All-Freshman Team during her time at Illinois State.

Egolf’s return to Normal marks a significant addition to the Redbirds coaching staff. Her experience, leadership, and dedication to both athletic and academic success promise a bright future for the program.
