Web Services for Devices (WSD) Scan offers a straightforward method to initiate scanning directly from your Konica Minolta machine to a computer on the network. This guide outlines the necessary preparations and steps to configure your Windows 10 computer to utilize the WSD Scan feature with your Konica Minolta scanner.
Preparing for WSD Scan
Before proceeding with the computer setup, ensure that the WSD Scan environment is properly configured on your Konica Minolta device. This initial configuration is typically performed by the administrator. Refer to your Konica Minolta device’s documentation for detailed instructions on configuring the WSD scan environment.
Windows 10 Computer Setup
To enable WSD Scan on your Windows 10 computer, you will need to install the appropriate scanner driver and configure the scan settings. Follow the steps below:
Install Scanner Driver

Enable Network Discovery: First, ensure network discovery is enabled on your Windows 10 computer. Navigate to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change advanced sharing settings. Verify that Turn on network discovery is selected.

Access Network Devices: Open File Explorer and click on Network in the left pane. This will display devices connected to your network.

Add Device and Install Driver:
- Click Add devices and printers on the toolbar. This will open the Devices and Printers window. Click Add a device.
- Windows will search for devices. Select your Konica Minolta machine from the list and click Next.
- User Account Control dialog box may appear depending on your computer settings. Confirm and proceed.
- Note that if both scan and print web services are enabled on your Konica Minolta device, it might be represented by a printer icon.
- The scanner driver will install automatically. Click Close when the confirmation dialog appears.

Open Devices and Printers: Go to the Start menu and click Devices and Printers.

Access Scan Properties: Right-click on the icon representing your Konica Minolta machine and select Scan properties.
Configure Scan Events

Navigate to Events Tab: In the scanner properties window, click on the Events tab.

Configure Scan Actions: Under the Events tab, configure the desired action to occur on your computer when a scan is initiated from the Konica Minolta machine using WSD Scan.
Setting Description Select an event Choose Scan from the dropdown menu. Actions Define the action your computer takes upon receiving a scan request: [Start this program] Select this to automatically launch a WSD Scan compatible application and display the scanned document. Choose your preferred application from the list. [Prompt for which program to run] When scanning, this option will display a list of WSD Scan applications installed on your computer, allowing you to choose which application to use for the current scan. [Take no action] With this setting, scanned data will be saved as a file to a default folder without launching any application. You can find the scanned files in Start > Documents > Scanned Documents on your computer.
Verify Connection on Touch Panel

Check DPWS on Konica Minolta Touch Panel: On the touch panel of your Konica Minolta machine, in scan/fax mode, tap Direct Input and then DPWS.

Confirm Computer Display: Verify that your target computer is displayed in the DPWS device list on the Konica Minolta touch panel.
