Foxwell Car Scanner: Upgrading from NT510 to NT530

The Foxwell NT510 car scanner has been a reliable tool, but technology marches on. Recently, I needed to replace my obsolete NT510, and I opted to work directly with Foxwell for the upgrade. For a total of $136.50 (including PayPal fees), Foxwell replaced my old scanner with a brand new NT530.

Initially, the NT530 arrived without any vehicle-specific software. However, using the Foxwell Assist software, I was able to quickly install the necessary BMW software. Since Foxwell had agreed to provide both BMW and Honda software as part of the replacement, a quick email exchange resolved the issue. They promptly configured their update agent, allowing me to install the Honda software without further complications.

Now, my new NT530 is equipped with both BMW and Honda software, mirroring the functionality of my retired NT510. While there were some minor communication hurdles due to time differences and occasionally brief responses, overall, my experience with Foxwell’s customer service was positive. It’s worth noting that their website and update software could benefit from some improvements in user-friendliness.

While exploring alternatives like the XTools scanner, which boasts broader vehicle compatibility, the price point of around $500 was a significant deterrent. Furthermore, online research indicated the XTool’s inability to program BMW keys, a crucial feature for my needs, ultimately solidified my decision to stick with Foxwell.

Although I haven’t fully explored all the functionalities of the NT530, I’ve noticed it offers a comprehensive suite of active tests. Feel free to suggest specific tests you’d like me to conduct. The Foxwell NT530 seems to be a worthy successor to the NT510, providing a cost-effective solution for my vehicle diagnostic needs.
