CamScanner is a powerful mobile application that transforms your smartphone into a portable scanner. This guide provides a comprehensive walkthrough on how to use CamScanner to scan documents, optimize images, and save them as PDF files.
Getting Started with CamScanner
Before you begin, ensure you have the CamScanner app installed on your device. If not, download it from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Once installed, open the CamScanner application.
Initiating the Scan
Upon launching the app, locate the camera icon, usually positioned in the bottom right corner of the screen. Tap on it to activate the camera.
Before taking a picture, make sure the “Docs” option is selected and the setting is toggled to “Multipage.” This ensures your scans are optimized for documents and allows you to scan multiple pages into a single PDF file.
Notice that when “Multipage” and “Docs” are activated, their respective icons and text turn green.
Capturing the Document
With the settings configured, capture your document by pressing the camera button.
After each photo, you’ll see a number in the lower right corner indicating the number of pages scanned.
Cropping and Adjusting the Scan
CamScanner allows you to crop and adjust your scan by dragging the green box to define the document’s boundaries. If you’re satisfied with the initial capture, tap the “Continue” button. If a dialogue box labeled “Adjust the trimming range” appears, you can safely ignore it. Continue capturing all necessary pages.
Reviewing and Processing the Scans
Once you’ve photographed all the pages, tap the thumbnail displaying the total number of captured images located in the bottom right corner.
You can then review each scan, apply filters, crop further, or rotate images as needed. When you’re satisfied with the adjustments, tap the green checkmark to proceed.
CamScanner will process the images and convert them into a single PDF file.
Saving and Sharing the PDF
Tap the “Share” icon in the top right corner. In the following menu, select “Share PDF.”
Choose “Save to Local” to save the PDF to your device. You will typically find the saved file in a folder named “CamScanner/PDF” within your device’s storage.
You can then open the PDF using a PDF reader application or your device’s built-in PDF viewer.
