Emergency services, including the Crystal Lake Police Department and Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department, were dispatched to the scene at approximately 5:38 a.m. following reports of a vehicle fire. Crystal Lake Deputy Police Chief Richard Neumann stated that witnesses at the scene indicated the vehicle was occupied at the time the fire broke out.
Bystanders bravely attempted to extract the individual from the burning car, but their efforts were thwarted by the intense heat and flames.
